Osaki Duke XL 4D Review (2026): Built for Big and Tall Users up to 6'8" and 400 lb

Quick answer: The Osaki Duke XL 4D is one of only two chairs we sell rated for 400 lb, with a 23-inch seat and a 26-inch shoulder width. It fits users from 5'2" to 6'8" and costs $6,999. Choose it over the Atlas XL if you want the heated shawl and a shorter reclined length.

If you're both tall and heavy (over 300 lb, up to 6'8"), the Duke XL and Atlas XL are the two chairs we sell built for that combination. This review covers the Duke's fit, massage features, room needs and trade-offs. To compare it with every tall-friendly chair we carry, see our best massage chairs for big and tall users.

Who the Duke XL is for

Good fit

  • You're over 300 lb (up to 400 lb) and need a chair rated for it.
  • You're tall, up to 6'8".
  • You want a wide seat (23") and wide shoulders (26").
  • You like shoulder warmth: the Duke has a heated shawl.

Consider skipping it if

  • You're under 5'2". The Duke XL fits users from 5'2"–6'8".
  • Your room is tight. It needs 13 inches from the wall and is 35 inches wide.
  • Your doorways are narrower than 28 inches, its disassembled minimum.

Massage features

4D rollers on an SL Flex Track

The 4D mechanism adjusts depth, speed and rhythm, so strokes can change pressure and cadence instead of moving at one fixed pace. The SL Flex Track follows the curve of your spine from the neck and shoulders down under the seat. Osaki doesn't publish a track length. Learn how track types differ in our S-track vs L-track vs SL-track guide.

Body scan and 20 programs

Before each session, a body scan finds your shoulder position and back curve and sets the rollers to match. There are 20 automatic programs (full-body, targeted, sectional and relaxation), plus full, partial and point manual modes. Techniques include kneading, knocking, tapping, knead and tap, and shiatsu, plus a stretch program.

Air, calves and feet

48 air cells work the shoulders, arms, calves and feet with five intensity levels. Four calf bumpers work with 14 air cells, and three foot rollers with adjustable speed work the soles, with foot heat.

Heat and comfort extras

The heated shawl warms the front and back of the shoulders. Zero gravity recline raises your legs, a spring-loaded footrest extends with a push, and you get a touchscreen tablet (English, Korean and Chinese), armrest shortcut controls, Bluetooth speakers and USB-C charging.
